New vehicle registration when moving from another state requires the following documentation:

• Proof of residency in Searsport (deed, lease, rental agreement or letter from property owner)
• Vehicle registration from previous state
• Title from previous state, or lender name and address if the vehicle is financed
• A valid insurance card for the vehicle and its current mileage

NOTE: You pay excise tax at the Town Office and then go to a BMV branch for title work and plates.
