New vehicle registration from a licensed dealer in the State of Maine requires the following documentation.

• Proof of residency in Searsport (deed, lease, rental agreement or letter from property owner) if this is your first time registering a vehicle in Searsport
• If transferring plates from another vehicle, the registration for the plates you plan to reuse
• A valid insurance card for the new vehicle and its current mileage
• The title application, bill of sale, invoice or lease agreement (provided by the dealer)
• The window sticker if this is a brand new vehicle

NOTE: The name(s) on the registration for old plates must match the purchase agreement of the new vehicle. If they do not match, all parties on the old registration must come into the Town Office to sign a form, or you must go to a BMV branch to obtain new plates.
