Mosman Memorial Park is located just off Route 1 in historic downtown Searsport. Mosman Park has been used as a recreational area for generations - thanks largely in part to the generosity of the Mosman family, who took it upon themselves to maintain the area for all to enjoy. In 1922, a group of residents formed the Mosman Memorial Park Association and purchased the 4-acre plot of land from the Mosman family heirs. In 1923, the park was officially dedicated to all those who fought in the First World War.
The Mosman Memorial Park Association is a registered 501(c)(3) Public Charity. The association's address is PO Box 12, Searsport, ME 04974.
At the park you'll find picnic tables, a softball field, a soccer field, a playground for smaller children and a basketball court. On the south side of the park you'll find steps that lead down to the beach where locals swim, skip rocks or walk out on the sand bar. Mosman Park offers beautiful views of Penobscot Bay and nearby islands.
Every Memorial Day the town hosts a parade that goes along Main Street and ends at the park. The sound of trumpeters playing taps echoes across the harbor, followed by a rifle salute performed by members of the local American Legion Post.
Permission to schedule special activities at Mosman Park can be obtained from the Park Association Board of Trustees and their Manager.
